We took the drawcord out. It was always either lopsided or tucked away, and the hood sits better without one. What is left is a plain heavy hood with a single pocket across the front.
The making
Three decisions worth explaining.

No drawcord
Nothing to even up, nothing to chew through in the wash, and the hood keeps a cleaner line without one.

The pocket is bar-tacked
Both openings are reinforced with a bar tack. It is the first thing to go on most hoods and the cheapest thing to prevent.

Heathered in the yarn
The grey is spun from three shades of undyed and dyed fibre, so it will not go patchy the way a piece-dyed grey does.
